Paramadina Mosque

2010

With the countless amounts of mosques all over Jakarta, it’s often to see mosques that are not being used to its maximum capacity, filling into more than two rows regularly. The centrifugal nature of a square would leave out too many spaces behind.  The Paramadina Mosque is an attempt to reconstruct the ritualistic nature of prayer and other religious necessities. The mosque still uses the basic identity of what Indonesian mosque is, but the building added a contemporary twist by placing the mihrab slightly off-center, to its front and center predecessors.
