Gedung Dua8 is more than an ethnology museum, as it also accommodates various cultural activities. It has an open and inviting expression from the exterior to lure visitors to come inside to see the ethnic Indonesian artifacts and exhibitions. Located in Kemang, South Jakarta, the building stands in the middle of a cultural junction of the city. The complex amounts to three masses, connected in different levels to retain the flow of the circulation. The site originally has two of the three building, and the final building retains the structures of those original buildings, introducing a third mass in the middle to connect all three. Gedung Dua8 attempts to bring a soulful presence throughout the entire building, leaving several areas vague on its enclosures, intertwining alleys, and playful composition between solid and void spaces.
