Conrad Chapel

2005

The Conrad Chapel takes in the form of a rectangle, directing upwards in its massing to express the relationship between man and his creator. The chapel, also known as the Infinity Chapel is standing still in South Kuta, Bali – a collaborative project with Antony Liu and Ferry Ridwan. The interior is made out of two walls, a bride and a groom for each surface, that define the difference in their characters yet when separated won’t retain the required support for the chapel. The ‘groom’ wall is made out of steel structure, covered in travertine marble. The lighter wall supports its other half, because as the saying goes ‘ behind every great man there’s an even greater woman.’
