The Aquatic Center is one among new original buildings in the Gelora Bung Karno complex, since the fourth Asian Games back in 1962. Due to the required professional sporting standards, the building focuses on its utilitarian features. The venue consists a main competition pool, a diving pool, training pool, and dry areas. The main competition pools are surrounded with spectator tribunes on both sides, a score board, and a diving tower. Recognizing mechanical water chiller as an option to maintain the correct temperature standard, the entire building was able to be covered up with a single roof construction. The roof is shaped as a dynamic wave-like stroke, made out of corrugated roofing. As a result, the Aquatic Center is capped off by a new domineering look, giving a fresh and contemporary finish to a utilitarian structure.
