DJ House – Bali, 2006-2008

Situated in the paradise island of Bali, the house is sought to reflect the owner’s affinity to nature and plants. The layout design adopts openness as particularly showed on the ground floor where it has no protective walls or windows. The threshold is separated only by reflecting pond which helps natural cooling and collects water during monsoon season. The upper part of the volume is shaded by ulin wood frame and metal mesh – a reference to frangipani tree branches. It also allows the various climbing plants and creepers grow on it. Hence, the building appearance will change over the course of time following the vegetation growth, giving it an ephemeral quality.
